This one-day accredited training course is ideal for parents or anyone involved with children. AFW Training provides you with the skills to help a child in an emergency situation, covering:
- The roles and responsibilities of an emergency paediatric first aider
- Recovery position
- Wounds and bleeding
- Assessing an emergency situation
- CPR
- Shock
- Dealing with an unresponsive infant or child
- Choking
- Accident recording
The assessment includes ongoing observations of practical elements and a multiple-choice question paper at the end of the course.
The certificate is valid for three years, although a refresher session is recommended midway between re-certification.
LEVEL 3 – PAEDIATRIC FIRST AID
This two-day accredited course meets Ofsted requirements for those working with children who need a recognised first aid qualification. It covers all topics included in the Level 3 Emergency Paediatric First Aid course, with the following additional subjects:
- Head and spinal injuries
- Asthma
- Burns and scalds
- Eye, ear, and nose conditions
- Minor injuries
- Fractures, dislocations, and allergic reactions
- Diabetic emergencies
- Electric shock
- Bites and stings
- Meningitis
- Poisoning
- Sickle cell crisis
- Treatment for hot and cold temperatures
The assessment consists of ongoing observation of practical elements and a multiple-choice question paper at the end of each training day.
The certificate is valid for three years, though it is recommended that a refresher session is completed between re-certification.
